Music With A Message Plays

9:46 a.m.  Loud speakers blare the song "Sixteen Tons," repeating its refrain, " I owe my soul to the company store."  That's the reality that existed for miners before the UMWA won the right to represent Miners.  Now corporations like Peabody, Arch and Patriot are scheming through sales and bankruptcy proceedings to deny all the hard-won benefits that broke the grip that the "company store" once had on Miners' lives.
